A prison inmate says he told two FBI agents assisting a grand jury investigation that a senior jail official and several guards on a special response team savagely beat him when he was captured while trying to escape from the Allegheny County Jail last year.

In an interview with the Tribune-Review, Gary Barbour Jr. said he was reeling from abuse suffered in the jail’s mechanical room when the jail official put on a pair of black gloves and told Barbour that he was his “worst nightmare.” The official then punched him at least 40 times in the face and head, Barbour said.
